Candra Umunna
I was born and raised in Georgia and moved to Atlanta to study Physics at Georgia State University. Growing up, I was a very creative person, but never really dabbled in photography and definitely never thought it would become such a big part of who I am today. I chose to study Physics/Astronomy because of my curious nature and love of the imagery. This eventually led me to also studying Photography. Besides it being an expressive outlet for me, photography became a way for me to play around with light, time, and color, while seeing their relationship with each other and how that resonated with people. I’m always looking to learn new tricks and finding different ways to execute the things I’ve learned.
Professionally, I worked for The Signal Newspaper at Georgia State University from 2012 to 2014 as a Staff Photographer and Photography Editor. While at the paper, I won several awards with the Georgia College Press Association and the Southeast Journalism Conference. I am also a RAW Artist for RAW: Natural Born Artists and was featured internationally as the #1 photographer showcasing for February 2015.
Outside of Physics and Photography, I enjoy movies, traveling, playing music, concerts, and just all-around experiencing new things with new people.
Mike Eden
I’m Mike Eden, a Georgia State alumnus with a degree in journalism. I’m an award-winning storyteller based in the Atlanta area who’s more interested in letting the pictures do most of the talking. I’ve done wedding and bar mitzvah photography, as well as freelance for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. After nine years of taking photographs, I’ve picked up a video camera to embrace multimedia reporting. When I’m not working on a project, I’m rewatching The X-Files. If Mulder and Scully have taught me anything, it’s that the truth is out there.
